Check yourself, before you present yourself

First impressions mean everything; no matter where you go or what important person you meet, the way you present yourself is VERY IMPORTANT. To me, there are three different ways of giving off a first impression are important, but some people don’t really care about. Going to a job interview and/or business meeting, meeting new people, and how men and women present their selves in public.
Anytime you go and apply for a job, wouldn’t you want to look the part and not like you just rolled out of bed to go get a job. You always want to look presentable, I don’t know who wouldn’t want to unless you’re the type that really doesn’t care. I know that if I wanted to hire someone to work for me, I wouldn’t want to see a girl come in with some booty shorts and their boobs about to fall out their shirt; I really wouldn’t want to see a guy walk in with a big white-T or a wife beater on with their pants below their butt. I would tell you I’m sorry but you need to leave or something. You don’t get jobs looking like that and I really don’t think anyone would hire someone dressed like that. If you work in the big business area (like brief cases; business suits; conference meetings), again why not wear something appropriate to work….even when the big boss aka head honcho comes in for a meeting or anything like that. If you’re really wanting that big promotion and/or raise you’ve been waiting on, guys don’t come in with a stained shirt, or your tie on crooked or even down to where you look like you have bad hygiene; ladies same thing, don’t look like you have bad hygiene as well, make up caked on your face and PLEASE don’t go in dressed like the “office whore” then you REALLY won’t get it.
I don’t know about you, but my mom taught me now matter who it is you meet, whether its friends or family or even for a job, always give them a good first impression cause you don’t know how it would affect you or them at the same time you don’t know who you’re going to meet. When I go and encounter with others, first thing that comes in my head when it comes to first impressions is all about respect. To me, it’s very rare that I will get someone that is really friendly by asking me how my day is, god bless you, thanks you for your service, enjoy the rest of your day/evening and what not. Sometimes when I do get it, I feel as if their only saying it cause they have to. Any other time, I encounter the ones that are really rude and don’t give a crap about their job at all. To the ones that give it your all no matter how your day is going, thank you I certainly appreciate you. Any other time I meet new people as friends whether it was in school or through my friends I hang with, I always and I MEAN ALWAYS see how they are in general with a first impression and around me. If you’re the type that has a bad attitude or even think your better than everyone else like all high and mighty and big headed, then I can’t role with you. Now, if your personality is beautiful and respectable and easy to get along with not just me but everyone else, then we’re going to be just fine. In school I always knew who to hang with and who not to hang with, I just always used that tactic and it kept me out of trouble. One year I ran into one of my friends at the mall and he was with a girl friend of his and another friend of theirs. The girl friend I already knew and we were cool, I just didn’t know the other girl and was willing to make a new friend and what not. With me being polite, I was taught to look someone in the eye when you’re talking to them. On her end, clearly she wasn’t taught that cause she gave me the “I’m to good to hang with you” and can’t look me in the eye when talking to me. So all in all she doesn’t give a crap about anyone else but herself. Am I friends with her, no; are there friends that I have that are friends with her, yea but I choose not to say anything. Like they always say, “If you don’t have anything nice to say to anyone, then don’t say anything at all.”
Now I understand that everyone has a different taste in style and fashion, but for some people that like to “label” others are pretty much labeling their selves. Call me crazy but ladies, how the heck do you find guys that wear their pants way below their waist like to underneath their butt attractive? And not just that, but the “gangster” look is not appealing at all…at least not today’s gangster look. I mean, the way half of these guys dress looks like they can’t afford clothes that fit and that are clean, and the fact that their mom’s didn’t teach them how to dress. Fellas, if you’re going to have dreads or any kind of hair on your head, please learn to take care of it! Like for real, it looks so nasty to see you not take care of it, you look like a bum. Oh and by the way, how you approach a lady as well says all. Ladies if your impressed with whole “‘eh gul, what yo name is” yea to where it sounds just how you would imagined its typed, then there is SERIOUSLY something wrong with you. There is no way you think it’s cool to be this way at all. If you know it’s a gay prison thing and what not to wear your pants below your butt, then why do it; if you have hair then why not take care of it; and if you’re trying to impress someone, why not talk PROPERLY?!! It’s really not that hard fellas!! I know I wasn’t alive during the 1920’s era but I know that the men then knew how to talk to a lady if he was interested and also knew how to present himself. They knew about first impressions. Ladies, I just don’t know where to begin seriously. Our first impressions aren’t any better than the guys. Some of us dress as if we’re working at a club or something; our hair its either styled weird or its dyed with either not normal colors or colors that are too bright. I pretty much summed it with the guys so it’s the same way as well with us.
I don’t know about you but lately it just seems that this generation is getting worse and worse with our first impressions. Is there anyone that cares about that? Oh well, again you know what to do…leave your thoughts and comments.

Until next time,
La Meah A.N. Battle
